Vintage Vince DiMaggio Baseball Glove | Leather Split Finger Mitt 1940s
Vintage Vince DiMaggio leather baseball glove, dating to the 1940s, featuring a period facsimile Vince DiMaggio signature on the palm.
Vince DiMaggio, older brother of Joe and Dom DiMaggio, played Major League Baseball from 1937 through 1946 and was known as a strong defensive outfielder with significant power. Gloves carrying his endorsement are an interesting piece of early professional baseball merchandising and make a great addition to a vintage sports collection.
This glove features the classic split-finger construction of early and mid-20th-century baseball equipment, along with brown leather, dark piping, leather lacing, and a simple wrist strap. The glove shows extensive authentic wear from age and use, including surface creasing, finish loss, edge wear, dryness, and deterioration around portions of the piping and stitching. The overall condition gives it a great aged appearance and strong display presence.
The Vince DiMaggio facsimile signature remains visible in the palm. The wrist strap is also marked with the name “Rodger Logsen” or similar, likely a previous owner's name. This personal marking adds another layer of history to the piece and reinforces that this was a glove that was actually used rather than simply stored away.
The leather has developed a warm, rich brown patina over the decades, with darker areas from wear and handling. Despite its age and condition, the glove retains its recognizable form and displays very well from either the palm or back side.
