A striking vintage 1959 printing of Henri Matisse’s La Danse (The Dance), produced by Atelier Daniel Jacomet in Paris.
This color lithograph and pochoir was created after Matisse’s La Danse for the 1959 portfolio Douze Contemporains, published by Éditions d’Art du Lion. The portfolio was produced under the direction of Daniel Jacomet and printed by Atelier Daniel Jacomet in Paris.
The image features Matisse’s iconic circle of five dancing figures against vivid fields of blue and green. The work bears Matisse’s signature in the plate at the lower edge. The signature is part of the print and is not hand-signed by Henri Matisse.
